Funding Opportunities

Opportunities currently accepting applications:

$100M Research Interests of the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) - The focus of AFOSR is on research areas that offer significant and comprehensive benefits to our national war fighting and peacekeeping capabilities.

$6M Used Oil Payment Program (OPP) - This program provides opportunities for local governments/other eligible jurisdictions to receive payments for used oil and used oil filter collection/recycling programs.

$4.1M 2021 Sex Offender and Registration Notification Act (SORNA) - The SORNA was enacted to protect the public from convicted sex offenders by establishing a comprehensive, national system for the registration of and notification about those offenders.

$1.5M 2023 Economic Development RNTA - Grants and cooperative agreements made under these programs are designed to leverage existing regional assets and support the implementation of economic development strategies that advance new ideas and creative approaches to advance economic prosperity in distressed communities.

$498K Cooperative Agreement for CESU-affiliated Partner with Colorado Plateau Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit - This research will address questions related to riparian vegetation change over time as it relates to flood events, drought, and climate variables along a regulated river. Both existing data and new data will be required to complete the research.

$425K Cooperative Agreement for CESU-affiliated Partner with the Gulf Coast Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit - The USGS, Wetland and Aquatic Research Center (WARC), is offering a opportunity to a CESU partner for research investigating efficient approaches and software tool/model development for large ecological data storage, analysis, transformation, modeling, visualization, and dissemination.

$300K Cooperative Agreement for affiliated Partner of the Great Basin Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit - The US Geological Survey is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU Partner for research in developing the mathematical framework for modeling the pattern and mechanisms driving dispersal and other deer movements and will serve as the foundation for assessing the risk of CWD spread associated with these host behaviors.

$200K Cooperative Agreement for CESU-affiliated Partner with Desert Southwest Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit - The objective of the agreement is to advance Water Mission Area’s physically based hydrologic modeling capabilities, and to advance our capability to develop machine learning model emulators of these models. The work will contribute to our national and river basin modeling efforts.

$155K Cooperative Agreement with Partner of Colorado Plateau Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit - This program will provide assistance in research to help build a program to understand the biotic and abiotic constraints on successful reclamation, improve post-reclamation monitoring programs, and identify management practices that promote reclamation success.

$25K Cooperative Agreement for CESU-affiliated Partner with Great Plains Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit - This opportunity will provide an avenue for assisting the USGS Wetland and Aquatic Research Center with validating predictive weather surveillance radar models and development of spatially explicit decision support tools that can address fundamental needs of USGS management partners for current and future habitat acquisition, restoration, and conservations efforts targeted at migratory land birds.

Forecasted Opportunities

Upcoming opportunities to get ready for.

$3.4M State Vital Statistics Improvement Program - The purpose of this five-year program is to improve the performance of the National Vital Statistics System by convening state vital statistics programs to evaluate and promote strategies for improving data quality, timeliness and utility for public health use.

$5.9M Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma (PDAC) Stromal Reprogramming Consortium (PSRC) - The purpose of the PSRC is to is to develop a comprehensive understanding of PDAC tumor progression, its microenvironment (TME) as a tumor fate determinant and the reciprocal tumor-TME interactions that drive clinical outcomes.

$3.6M Cancer Prevention-Interception Targeted Agent Discovery Program (CAP-IT) Centers - The overall goal of this FOA and the companion FOA is to establish an agile and effective network infrastructure that undertakes collaborative research to discover molecularly or immunologically targeted agents designed to prevent or intercept oncogenic process in high-risk populations for precision cancer prevention and interception.

$990K Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma Stromal Reprogramming Consortium Coordinating and Data Management Center (PSRC CDMC) - The purpose of this Notice is to announce the NCI's intention to issue a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) that invites applications for a PSRC Coordinating and Data Management Center (CDMC) that will support research projects and activities to enhance and facilitate the mission of PSRC as a whole.

$750K Cancer Target Discovery and Development (CTD2) - The National Cancer Institute plans to publish a FOA as a PAR for the "Cancer Target Discovery and Development (CTD2)” Initiative (U01). CTD2 will promote efforts to radically improve our understanding of the underlying etiology of cancer initiation, progression, and metastasis and to exploit this knowledge in clinically relevant context which includes intra-tumor heterogeneity, tumor microenvironment and other factors that result in "innate" or acquired treatment resistance.
